IT in construction
TIKAL is a cloud based application which integrates projects designed under BIM framework (particularly Revit) with our system to assess building sustainability (EDISOST).
All projects developed using BIM technologies could be assessed in detail in terms of sustainability using Revit framework, thanks to TIKAL and EDISOST. TIKAL lets to be at the forefront of innovations in the building sector in order to work with the coming architecture: building information modelling and sustainability.
TIKAL software is the result of a R&D project carried by SBC. It is a completely operative product, which tries to incorporate gradually other complementary tools, such as G.I.S. to make integral building management easier.
In the Mayan language Itzá, TIKAL means “place of languages”. This tool software make understandable various languages coming from several tools.
EDISOST is a cloud based software developed by Sustainable Building Cluster’s enterprises. The main service of EDISOST is the sustainability assessment of new buildings and retrofitting actions ranging the design phase and executed projects. The fundamental goal of EDISOST is the make easy the incorporation of sustainability criteria during city planning, building design and construction in Canary Islands region. Nonetheless this tool is adaptable to other regions if focused adaptation are made in terms of indicators.
EDISOST is composed by 6 different areas: city planning, environmental quality, materials and resources, accessibility, energy management and water management. Each area holds its own set of indicators which allow assess specific issues. In total there are 69 indicators.
